South Lake Tahoe resident Michael Spate has been identified as the man who died after being struck by a vehicle just before 7:30 p.m. on September 28, 2018.
The preliminary investigation suggests Spate, who was 65-years-old, was crossing Lake Tahoe Boulevard near the driveway into Denny's and US Bank. He was not walking in a crosswalk.
The driver of the vehicle did not see Spate and no charges are being pursued against them according to South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. Shannon Laney.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in this case he said.
As local rumors suggested, a lime bike or scooter was not involved.
