Viking Corner: This Week at South Tahoe High and Homecoming News

Homecoming week is finally here. Locals and alumni, students and staff of South Tahoe High School prepare for the festive weekend. Students battled for school spirit and built floats, while a new homecoming king and queen are to be crowned under Friday night lights.

Homecoming
Julia Russel’s leadership classes spent the past two months planning the homecoming weekend, including the spirit rally, parade and dance.

During school Thursday, a spirit rally is being held in the blue gym. Students will march from the Bevmo parking lot to the high school at 4 p.m., showing school spirit with decorations and class colors.

“I’m really excited,” said Ms. Russel. “I feel like this is the best turn out I’ve seen for putting something together that’s all done by kids. I think it’s going to be awesome and I hope that everyone comes.”

The homecoming football game is played on Friday at 7 p.m. on the STHS football field. The Viking football team (1-5) hosts North Valley High School (0-5).

The homecoming dance is Saturday at 7 p.m. This year’s theme is Mardi Gras.
