Lake Tahoe area roadwork October 30 – November 5, 2016

LONG-TERM PROJECTS- State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $70.1 million project from Tahoma to just north of Granlibakken Road in Tahoe City that is upgrading storm water drainage and treatment systems, adding curb and gutter, resurfacing and realigning the road, adding new left-turn pockets and widening shoulders on an 8-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in summer 2017. October 31-November 4 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from Oak Street to Cherry Street and from St. Michael’s Court to Sugar Pine Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to noon Friday for pavement grinding and paving.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $13 million water quality improvement project from Cascade Road to the Eagle Falls Viaduct over Emerald Bay. The project is constructing new drainage facilities to treat stormwater runoff and repaving a four-mile section of the highway. Completion is expected in later this fall. October 31-November 4 - State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Cascade Road to Upper Emerald Bay Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday for shoulder work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $25 million project from the "Y" junction with U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson. Curb, gutter and sidewalks are being built in the 1.1-mile four-lane section, and the highway will be widened in the two-lane section to Visitor Center Road to provide 4-foot paved shoulders on each side. Drainage systems are also being built and the roadway is being resurfaced. Completion is expected later this fall. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. Highway work includes installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage system to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements. Completion is expected this fall.
October 31-November 4 - State Route 28 (Placer County) from Beach Avenue to Deer Street and from Fox Street to Beaver Street: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Skyline/Coon Hollow Road to Pacific Street in Placerville: Motorists can expect a full highway closure with a city detour in place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Cameron Park Drive: Westbound motorists can expect alternating the #1 lane closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday and the eastbound #1 lane closed from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Red Hawk Parkway: Eastbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 5 Mile Road/Paul Bunyan Road to 8 Mile Road/Cedar Grove: Eastbound motorists can expect left-turn pockets closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends during Apple Hill season for safety reasons.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Sly Park Road to Carson Road: Westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed at various locations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for tree work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Alder Creek Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Strawberry Lodge Drive to Johnson Pass Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday for pavement striping.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from Martis Peak Road to Carnelian Bay Avenue: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday for guardrail repair.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from Carnelian Bay Avenue to the junction with State Route 28 in Kings Beach: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 8 p.m. noon Sunday through Friday for recessed pavement striping.

The Caltrans District Traffic Management Branch has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above.
