The 2nd Annual Meyers Mountain Bike Festival will take place on August 10, 2014 in the Divided Sky parking lot, located at 3200 US Highway 50. The festival kicks off with a “Triple Crown Ride” covering 30+ miles and a 5,200 elevation gain. Riders should arrive at the Divided Sky at 7:30 a.m. to register for the ride. A $25 donation will support the Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA), and Clif Bar will have water and fueling stations along the ride.

The 2014 "Jazz & Beyond - Carson City Music Festival" will open with a "Mad Hatter Garden Party," a ticketed event in the backyard of the Nevada Governor's Mansion, on Friday, August 1, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. The gate opens at 5:00 p.m., and the show starts at 5:30 p.m. The party features music by the Corky Bennett Trio, finger foods by Carson City Confections, wine, beer, and a raffle. The Governor's Mansion is at 606 Mountain St., Carson City, and entrance is by the Robinson St. entrance.

Endurance mountain bikers will compete in the Tahoe Trail 100-Kilometer Race at Northstar California Resort Saturday, July 19 – all vying to qualify for the legendary challenge of the Leadville Trail 100-mile mountain bike race in August, which stretches through 100 miles of technical Colorado terrain.

As is tradition, Kings Beach held their July 3rd Fireworks celebration Thursday night.

They had food and beer vendors, games, souvenirs and music.

Artemis Mediterranean Grill has expanded its business to include a second restaurant, Artemis Lakefront Café, in the Ski Run Marina. Owners Angela and Brian Luke will celebrate the opening of this new location with a grand opening party and ribbon cutting officiated by TahoeChamber on June 17.

It was well before the the cry of "gold" was heard throughout the country that wagon trains full of families and adventurers were making their way west.

In the early 1850's, one of the major land routes to California, traversing what we now know as Echo Summit and the Highway 50 corridor, became known as the "Roaring Road". Travel was so heavy, oftentimes wagon trains were forced to wait for days to have their turn on the road.

The Annual Lake Tahoe Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe Spirit of Spring Fundraiser will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at Edgewood Tahoe from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

All proceeds raised during this evening of food and wine will benefit the local kids -- help them be great!

Your $40 ticket gets you in the door and treated to name vintages, cordials and beer for the evening courtesy of Southern Wine and Spirits and appetizers buffet courtesy of Edgewood Tahoe.

Tahoe Douglas Rotary's annual fundraiser, the St. Patrick's Day Celebration will be held for the 46th consecutive year on March 14, 2014 at Harrah's Tahoe beginning at 6 p.m. Enjoy a full Irish feast complete with corned beef and cabbage and tasty desserts as well as unlimited wine and beer tasting, endless silent auction tables as well as dancing. There is also a special hotel rate for the night should you want to enjoy and not worry about driving home.

Cold weather and snow this week is allowing Sierra-at-Tahoe® Resort to open for the 2013-14 season on Friday, December 6, 2013 with early season conditions and very limited terrain. The ski resort will operate the Easy Rider Express chairlift which will give skiers and snowboarders access to the right half of Broadway trail. This is a green run and will have small to medium rail features, giving guests a chance to get their park legs back underneath them.

The Cash Mob lunch on October 8 at Gunbarrel Tavern & Eatery was a success. Fifteen people showed up to try a variety of menu items including beer can chicken, shrimp ‘n grits, and jalapeno bacon mac ‘n cheese at the newest restaurant in the Heavenly Village. Gunbarrel Tavern officially opened their doors on August 30 with a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony.

The Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation will have its annual signature fundraiser, The Fall Food Fest, on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Harvey’s Convention Center. Since its conception in 2010, the Labor Day weekend's Sample the Sierra has continued to grow and evolve. Beginning as a one-day South Lake Tahoe street festival, the event has expanded into an entire weekend of festivities celebrating the bounty and heritage of the Sierra Nevada region.
