Yerington farmers get half the water they were expecting
Submitted by paula on Thu, 02/05/2015 - 12:15amThe drought has already had a dramatic impact on farmers in the Smith and Mason Valleys, but this year it is going to be even harder to make a living. The state agency that controls ground water in the area decided Tuesday to cut each farmers allocation in half.
On wet year most farmers rely on water from the Walker River, but with little to no snow in the mountains this year there will likely be no water in the river. Ground water is the back-up water supply, but this year even that is being reduced.

Letter: Coyote soccer experience great for fans, players and coaches
Submitted by paula on Sat, 10/18/2014 - 5:31pm"After a mistake late in the second half by our goalkeeper, the LTCC men's team found themselves down 2-0 with 6:46 seconds left to go in the game. And then something happened.
THE CROWD STARTED CHEERING!!!
I thought to myself on the sidelines, "Wow, that's a nice gesture since their team is being beat 2-0." Everyone on the bench and on the field thought the game was most likely over.
