Howie’s Top 21 Favorite Halloween Pics
Submitted by paula on Tue, 10/27/2020 - 7:36pmThere are those that would say 2020 is hands down the scariest Halloween movie ever and yeah, I wouldn’t argue with that. The script for this year has certainly freaked everybody out. Add to that an election year and the advent of modern day zombies who’ve been quarantined a little too long and you have the ultimate scary flick that appears to have no ending. Are you wearing your mask? Yeah, I’d rather be scared by a movie and not real life if that’s okay?

Column: Discount Brokers Finally Found the Bottom
Submitted by paula on Thu, 10/17/2019 - 3:36pmDiscount brokers competing to drive client growth have been in a race to the bottom when it comes to fees. I for one believe this is a good thing. Yes, more people should have access to the financial markets at lower costs. That is a good thing. This could even be good as these firms may actually compete with traditional brick and mortar banks for new clients as well and bringing a higher level of banking experience to more people.
I like that the “Discount Brokers” have finally found the bottom $0.
Unfortunately, they are still in the business of making money, how though?

Movie Review: The Meg opens in theaters August 10
Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/09/2018 - 3:49pmLet me just say right off the top no, it's not another ripoff of 1975's "Jaws" (although I did think that way when I first saw the trailer). Oh sure there are some parallels taking place in the summer, a huge shark (this one is prehistoric though) and yes, they needed a bigger boat too. That said "The Meg" does stand on its own with the trifecta elements of sarcastic humor, a long standing feud between former friends and of course, a love interest complete with a little girl (played by Shuya Sophia Cai) who at times steals the scenes like most little kids do).

Happy birthday Nevada: How, when and where to celebrate Nevada Day 2016 events
Submitted by paula on Fri, 10/28/2016 - 9:11pmNevada is one of the few states that celebrate its Admission Day, and boy do we throw a party. A parade, competitions of strength and facial hair, hot air balloons, bloody marys, a carnival, pow wow, and free chili are just a few of the festivities awaiting the capital city on Saturday.
The party begins Friday this year with a ribbon cutting celebration of the 'new' downtown. The Nevada State Museum hits its 75th Anniversary this year and will have a day full of fun and surprises. Keep reading to see where you need to take advantage of all the best this holiday weekend has to offer.
