Tahoe Chamber event brings in $2,550 and food for Bread and Broth

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce's annual Connect for a Cause on January 18 had a great turnout from the community, bring in both cash and food donations for Bread and Broth.

Over 100 people attended the charity mixer at Riva Grill and they enjoyed appetizers and Riva Grill’s signature cocktail, Wet Woodies during the event.

Bread and Broth serves the community with weekly food giveaways and two hot meals a week, and their Bread and Broth 4 Kids programs gives over 170 South Lake Tahoe children in grades K-8 a backpack of weekend food.

Trio of art exhibit openings, artist receptions at LTCC in January

Do shopping at South Lake Tahoe holiday fairs Sunday

Golden Bear Events is hosting their annual Winter Bazaar at the American Legion at 2748 Lake Tahoe Boulevard. From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., holiday shoppers can find See's Candies, handmade jewelry, home decor, books from local authors, photography, treats from Don's Cakes by the Lake, Girl Scout Troop #123 will be selling handmade crafts, Beauty Control, hair accessories, fiber arts, clothing and more, plus the Cheer Team will be gift wrapping for a donation.

South Tahoe High student photography on display at City Hall

Award winning photography by South Tahoe High School (STHS) students is now on display at the Lake Tahoe Airport's art gallery.

Some of the photographers were on hand a reception hosted by the City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance on Monday, the second since the gallery was opened in June of this year. Work of local artists will hang on the walls at the entrance of City Hall at the airport throughout the year and will be rotated quarterly.

LTCC opens three new art exhibits, meet the artists at community reception

Buffalo Bill's Wild West at Dangberg Historic Park

Opinion: LTUSD Board celebrates student successes; Looks to address challenges

It is that time of year again. It is time for the youth in our beautiful community to take the big plunge. We, the members of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board of Education wish to congratulate each and every member of South Tahoe High School and Mount Tallac High School class of 2017 for all their hard work, not just for the last 4 years, but for the last 12. $475,000 awarded to 118 South Tahoe High seniors

During a series of recent awards ceremonies, South Tahoe High(STHS) students were recognized for academic success, attendance and bilingual immersion.

The annual Senior Awards Night saw 118 students recognized with $475,000 in scholarships. During the evening, 64 individual presentations honored one or more students for achievements.

Popular Rock Tahoe Half Marathon returns for 3rd year

Epic Tahoe Adventures (ETA) is bringing the third annual Rock Tahoe Half Marathon to Lake Tahoe on June 17, 2017. 2,000 runners are expected for the event that takes participants from Spooner Summit to Stateline along Highway 50, past some of the best scenery around.

Over 3,000 family members and friends are expected to join the runners in town for the unique "Run, Rock and Recover" event.

STHS photographers tops in state-wide contests

South Tahoe High School students were honored for their award winning photography during Tuesday's Lake Tahoe Unified School District board meeting.

Guadalupe Ruiz and Tristan Klasko received recognition for their first-place award winning photographs submitted to the California Streaming Photo Contest sponsored by the California County Offices of Education. They each won a camera, tripod and other gifts. Their award winning photos will be used on a calendar distributed to teachers across the state.

In Reno, he was afforded protection from arrest and incarceration because of his connections to Bill Graham and James McKay. Their political and business connections covered almost the entire state.

Terry "Steve" Leonard December 13, 1943 to July 7, 2016

Steve Leonard died peacefully in the company of his family on Thursday, July 7 , 2016.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen Leonard; children, Tess and Benjamin Leonard; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Brenda Leonard; brother, Jack Leonard ; nephews, Jon and Sam Leonard, and Lance Rominger. He is preceded by his parents, John and Opal Leonard, and sister, Sharon Leonard.

Genoa Cowboy Festival embodies Western Spirit

In September, longtime physician Dr. Paul Marlowe will say farewell to his patients and the urgent care practice where he has provided care for 32 years as he embarks on an adventure with his wife Lorraine. The uniquely quirky and endearing Dr. Marlowe is known throughout the community for providing exceptional care since 1983.

Tahoe Art League holding studio tour over next two weekends

Visit 22 different locations during the 9th Annual Artist Studio Tour which is being held by the Tahoe Art League over two weekends, July 24-26 and July 31 - August 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

This is a great opportunity to meet artists from South Lake Tahoe and the surrounding communities, visit their studios and enjoy their art.

Lake Tahoe Community College’s (LTCC) Annual Commencement Ceremony will be held Friday, June 26 at 6 p.m. on the Community Playfield next to the LTCC Gymnasium. This year’s theme is “Leaving a Legacy,” meant to encourage students to continue to find ways to create and contribute to change in their communities after graduation, and throughout their lives.

Grand opening for South Lake Tahoe photographer’s new studio

Local photographer Jaime Emery recently celebrated the grand opening of her Rose Street Studio in its new location in Zephyr Cove, NV. Rose Street Studio offers clients the chance to create lasting memories through images captured by Emery.

Emery moved to Lake Tahoe in 2000 after graduating with a degree in Art and Design from Cal Pol, San Luis Obispo. Four years later she started Rose Street Studio. The new studio was a “life long goal” of Emery’s and the result of years of hard work.

Basecamp Hotel’s new bar the highlight of next chamber BAHM!

Experience Basecamp Hotel’s new bar and outdoor area at the Tahoe Chamber Business After Hours Mixer (BAHM!) on Thursday, June 25. Attendees have the opportunity to check out the recent expansion that includes outdoor fire pits and event spaces while networking with fellow South Shore professionals. The BAHM! begins at 5:30 pm.
