There’s a good reason nearly three million people follow photographer/filmmaker Chris Burkard and his company, Chris Burkard Photography, on Instagram. His work has captured some of the most beautiful places and committed people on the planet and now he will be in South Lake Tahoe on Friday, January 5 for the speaker series, Ski Run Presents.

Those on the South Shore will be treated to two holiday bazaars on Sunday, December 3, 2017.

Golden Bear Events is hosting their annual Winter Bazaar at the American Legion at 2748 Lake Tahoe Boulevard. From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., holiday shoppers can find See's Candies, handmade jewelry, home decor, books from local authors, photography, treats from Don's Cakes by the Lake, Girl Scout Troop #123 will be selling handmade crafts, Beauty Control, hair accessories, fiber arts, clothing and more, plus the Cheer Team will be gift wrapping for a donation.

After a winter of historic snowfall and atmospheric rivers, what will 2017-18 have in store?

That has yet to be seen, but many resorts around the Lake Tahoe Basin are making plans for opening even without that "one good dump."

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West returns to Dangberg Historic Park on Saturday, August 26 at 11:00 am as the park’s final major event of the 2017 Dangberg Summer Festival.

The show features Buffalo Bill Cody, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Annie Oakley, the Pony Express, The Mayfield Gang and the 1st Nevada Cavalry. The Douglas High School Marching Band and western singer-songwriter Krista Jenkins return for a second year to draw the audience back in time to the frontier of the American West.

During a series of recent awards ceremonies, South Tahoe High(STHS) students were recognized for academic success, attendance and bilingual immersion.

The annual Senior Awards Night saw 118 students recognized with $475,000 in scholarships. During the evening, 64 individual presentations honored one or more students for achievements.

South Tahoe High School students were honored for their award winning photography during Tuesday's Lake Tahoe Unified School District board meeting.

Guadalupe Ruiz and Tristan Klasko received recognition for their first-place award winning photographs submitted to the California Streaming Photo Contest sponsored by the California County Offices of Education. They each won a camera, tripod and other gifts. Their award winning photos will be used on a calendar distributed to teachers across the state.

Your Nevada Workspace is a new business on the South Shore and offers co-shared workspace and full-service amenities, as well as educational and networking opportunities to help businesses accelerate growth.

They will be having a grand opening tour on Tuesday, April 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 195 Hwy 50 (in front of Safeway in Round Hill). Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce (Tahoe Chamber) would like to thank the community for supporting the local charity, Bread & Broth, at the annual Connect for a Cause Charity Mixer at Riva Grill on Thursday, January 12.

There are many different mediums artists use for their work: clay, paint, pencil, metal and stone just to name a few. For an art project at U.C. Santa Cruz, South Tahoe High grad Daniel Kagan used something many wouldn't have thought of, his brother's mental health records.

Historian Steve Davis will speak on a visual exploration of photography and the American West in the nineteenth century, in a free presentation at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Saturday, September 3, at 10:00 am.

Author Guy Clifton will speak on his book Dempsey in Nevada in a free presentation at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Saturday, August 6, at 10:00 am.

Many people are surprised to learn that Jack Dempsey once called Nevada home. Dempsey left footprints all over the Silver State that affected the entire sporting arena.

He helped usher in the era known as “The Golden Age of Sport” along with baseball’s Babe Ruth, football’s Red Grange, golf’s Bobby Jones and tennis’ Bill Tilden.

A summer-long exhibit opened on the North Shore Friday, one that contains photos of the man behind many iconic Lake Tahoe photos, Harold Parker.

This summer, the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society and the University of Nevada, Reno Photography Program will be co-hosting digitization day, a one day event where you can bring your historical Lake Tahoe photographs, postcards, and memorabilia in for professional-quality scanning.

Participants will be given free copies of scans on USB drives, and will have the option to donate a digital copy of materials for inclusion in the NLTHS’s databases, contributing to the visual history of Lake Tahoe.

"From the Lens of Eleanor Preger," is an exhibition at Sierra Nevada College that includes images from Burning Man 2011-15, and the photographer will talk about her art during the closing reception for the show on April 5. Crimson Rose, Burning Man co-founder, and Maria Partridge, Artist Advocate for the Burning Man Foundation, are both expected to make comments during the evening.

Eleanor Preger's talk will take place in the Ron and Maureen Ashley Community Gallery at the Holman Arts & Media Center on campus from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

They all made it to the finals of the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Warhol and King went on the win the national top prize, along with author Joyce Carol Oates and designer Zac Posen.

Sierra Nevada College presents a traveling art show from the Nevada Arts Council October 16 through December 11, 2015 in the school's Prim Library.

“PANORAMA: Selections from the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist Fellowship Program,” the third in a series of traveling exhibits showcasing the recipients of the agency’s Artist Fellowship Award in the visual arts. PANORAMA features twelve exceptional artists and brings Nevada’s statewide artist landscape into view. Each contributing Fellow has demonstrated mastery of process and medium in producing a significant body of work.

The uniquely quirky and endearing Dr. Marlowe is known throughout the community for providing exceptional care since 1983.

Local photographer Jaime Emery recently celebrated the grand opening of her Rose Street Studio in its new location in Zephyr Cove, NV. Rose Street Studio offers clients the chance to create lasting memories through images captured by Emery.

Emery moved to Lake Tahoe in 2000 after graduating with a degree in Art and Design from Cal Pol, San Luis Obispo. Four years later she started Rose Street Studio. The new studio was a “life long goal” of Emery’s and the result of years of hard work.
