Good Morning Lake Tahoe Skiers & Riders…

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service in Reno has updated their forecast and issued a Blizzard Warning for Lake Tahoe from 7:00 p.m. Wednesday to 7:00 a.m. Thursday for elevation 7000 feet and above.

Blizzard conditions now expected with increased snowfall from Wednesday through Thursday.

Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon: Moderate snow with accumulations of 5 to 10 inches, except 10 to 18 inches west of Highway 89, are expected. Winds gusting as high as 75 mph for ridge tops.

The sleek, graceful beauty of bobcats isn't always easy to see in Lake Tahoe as they are crepuscular, meaning they are active a few hours before sunset until a few hours into the dark, and then before dawn to a few hours after sunrise.

While our schedules don't always mesh with theirs, it is a treat when we get to catch them running across the snow or hanging out in trees.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - `With holiday travelers and a Winter Weather Advisory both headed to Lake Tahoe, expect delays on the roads.

On I80 near Donner Lake westbound traffic is at a dead stop as drivers head towards chain controls and snow. As of 11:00 a.m. Monday the controls are in place from Kingvale to the Donner Lake interchange with those expected to expand as the storm enters the region.

LAKE TAHOE - Santa Claus might be navigating his sleigh through a snow storm above Lake Tahoe on Christmas Eve, but exactly how much snow will be on his landing pads (aka rooftops) will be made clearer the holiday gets closer.

What is certain is a Winter Storm Watch has been issued and in effect from Monday morning to Tuesday morning, making Saturday and Sunday the best travel days of the mountain passes prior to Christmas.
