Winter Weather Advisory continues thru 9:00pm this evening… A few inches of Fresh Snow reported at all resorts and should continue to fall thru out the day… Winds are affecting the operation of lifts with Wind Holds reported at Heavenly, Squaw, Alpine & Mammoth to start the day. Call Ahead… Some road controls posted… buckle up and drive safely! Get After it! Have Fun & Be Safe!

TODAY’S WEATHER: Expect Snow & Rain in the Morning, then chance of showers in the afternoon. Snow Level 6500 Feet. Snow accumulation of up to 4” with 2-6” above 7000 feet. Highs: 39F-44F. (29F-34F on the Slopes). South Winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Ridge Gusts up to 95 mph.

TONIGHT: Mostly Cloudy with a chance of showers. Lows 21F-31F. Southwest winds 15-25 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph in the evening. Ridge gusts up to 60 mph.

* WHAT…Snow expected. 6 to 12 inches above 7000 feet and west of Highway 89. Light accumulations possible at lake level. Winds gusting as high as 90 mph along the crest. Hazardous boating conditions on Lake Tahoe with gusts up to 40 mph.

* WHERE…Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN…Through 9 PM PST this evening. Heaviest period of snowfall expected this morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Use caution while driving. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dress warm, in layers with your Gore-Tex Jacket or Shell to stay Dry. Take warm gloves, a hat or beanie, and wear a Helmet for Safety. You might want to take along a face gaiter or scarf. Also wear good Sunglasses or Goggles. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen (when the sun is out) & stay hydrated at altitude!

SURFACE CONDITIONS: Surface Conditions are Fresh Powder, Machine Groomed & Skier-Rider Packed & Tracked Powder. Watch for marked & unmarked obstacles.

SAFETY MESSAGE: Stay on designated Opened Trails only. Respect all rope lines & area closures.Ski or Ride with a Buddy if you decide to go Off Piste – Trees or opened trails. Keep an eye out for marked and unmarked obstacles. Slow Down and observe safety signs on trails with high concentration of skiers and riders… Know the Code! Always stay in control. Be able to avoid objects and people in your Path! Please stop to side of the run where it is safe and always check uphill for skiers and riders before restarting downhill.
