SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The lead-sheathed telecommunications cables in Lake Tahoe for decades have now been completely removed. After their discovery by divers with the environmental non-profit Below the Blue, it took years and collaboration between several groups to get to this milestone.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe City Council approved a lowering of speed limits on some streets in the city after an Engineering and Traffic Survey (E&TS) was completed. California law requires cities to conduct a speed survey every 10 years for a speed limit to be enforceable,
even if no changes have been made to the roadway.

The Council approved a reduction in speed to 30 mph on Ski Run Blvd. from US50 to Pioneer Trail, on Lake Tahoe Blvd. from SR89 (the Y) to D Street, and a reduction to 25 mph on Pioneer Trail from Keller Road to US50.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A dose of pre-holiday spirit has arrived in South Lake Tahoe. A 60-foot white fir tree was delivered to Heavenly Village. From there it will transform into a decorated Christmas Tree with a tree-lighting ceremony on Friday, November 29 at 5 p.m.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Even though an atmospheric river is aiming for California, Lake Tahoe will not see the brunt of the storm. The area north of San Francisco into the I5 corridor will see massive amounts of rain, up to ten inches in many areas.

The first wave of the storm starts Wednesday, with a second, stronger storm hitting the region Friday into Saturday. The public should watch the forecast as the system gets closer, especially if traveling through the Sierra and over mountain passes.
