Traffic at 'Y' tied up as police and fire called on separate incidents
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 09/26/2011 - 1:40pmSouth Lake Tahoe police and fire were called at about 2:30 this afternoon to Raley's at the"Y" after a report of a woman not breathing inside a car with two small children inside. First responders at the scene reported via police scanner dispatch that a second ambulance was needed for the children, reportedly an 18-month-old and a 3-year old. The children appear OK. About a block away, a fight involving several subjects was also reported. Initial police scanner reports came in that there was a window that was broken.

Big Meadow restoration continues along Scotts Lake Trail

The Forest Service will soon begin removing conifers (cone-bearing trees) from meadow, aspen groves and upland forest areas along Scotts Lake Trail, off Big Meadow Trailhead near Luther Pass on Hwy. 89. The project should not affect access to the trail, but the Forest Service is asking that users remain on the trail at all times. A contractor will use crews with chainsaws for the thinning project, which could begin tomorrow.

The annual 2011 Street Vibrations motorcycle event created a lot of traffic on northern Nevada roadways resulting in numerous service calls for troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol. Additional troopers were placed on duty throughout the entire event in an effort to create a highly visible presence on our area’s highways and to handle the anticipated larger volume of calls for service.

Motorcycle and large truck collide near Kirkwood

According to police scanner traffic, the motorcyclist was pinned underneath the truck, possibly a big rig. A CALSTAR air ambulance was dispatched to the accident scene. A ground ambulance was, at last report at around 2:40 p.m, to transport the downed cyclist to a zone cleared for CALSTAR to land.
