11th Annual Keep Tahoe Red, White and Blue Beach Cleanup

After Tahoe’s celebrated July 4th festivities, our beaches and surrounding areas can become covered with trash, endangering wildlife and the Lake’s clarity. Each year on July 5th, Tahoe residents and visitors turn out for the largest cleanup of the year to remove litter from Lake Tahoe’s shores. You can help Keep Tahoe Blue by volunteering at a beach cleanup sites around the Lake!

Volunteers invited to 11th annual Keep Tahoe Red, White and Blue Beach Cleanup on July 5

LAKE TAHOE, Nev./Calif – After the 4th of July holiday brings crowds to Lake Tahoe’s shores, its beaches can use some TLC. On the morning of Friday, July 5, Tahoe-lovers are invited to remove litter, refresh and revitalize the Lake’s sandy shores and surrounding areas as part of the 11th annual “Keep Tahoe Red, White & Blue” Beach cleanup hosted by the League to Save Lake Tahoe.

South Christmas Valley Firewise organizational meet and greet set

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Christmas Valley neighborhood is having a Firewise "meet and greet" for those living in the area on July 9 anytime between 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 3313 West River Park.

The neighborhood from the Celio Ranch to the last home on Grass Lake Road is in this newly formed Firewise community - over 240 homes.

Representatives from the Tahoe Resource Conservation District and Lake Valley Fire Valley will be on hand to share information. The event is meant to have residents stop by, grab information on what it means to be Firewise, and meet representatives.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Historical Society is bringing back its popular summer speaker series, Tahoe History Talks on the Beach, on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. starting June 25.

The free talks are held at Lakeview Commons on the west side steps. Lakeview Commons is located at the corner of US50 and Lakeview Ave. There is plenty of free parking.

Stop the South Tahoe Vacancy Tax group to hold second town hall meeting

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Another divisive community issue, a proposed vacancy tax on second homeowners, is drawing a large opposition campaign. Over 120 residents, business owners, lodging community, chambers, second homeowners, realtors, and many others filled the first Stop The Vacancy Tax town hall meeting.
