Economic Diversification Report Provides Roadmap For Nevada Job Creation

CARSON CITY – A report outlining how Nevada can grow and diversify its economy says much more could be done now in the areas of health and medical services, and that clean energy and aerospace/defense are emerging sectors that could bring skilled jobs to the state.

Nevada Governor Makes First Formal Tribal Appointment To Cabinet

CARSON CITY – Gov. Brian Sandoval today appointed Ted Quasula, chairman of the Nevada Indian Commission, to serve as a member of his cabinet. According to tribal representatives and State Archives, the appointment marks the first time in Nevada history that tribes will have formal representation at the cabinet level.

Heavenly and Northstar Ignite with winter opening this weekend

With the Vail Resorts tie-in Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort and the newly renamed Northstar California mountain site are entering the early opening race behind Boreal. This is rare for Northstar to open early and with the new trails it's gotta get the season to a quick start. I hope to be there!

Autopsy provides no new details in local woman's death; investigation continues

Investigators have no new leads in the case of a South Lake Tahoe woman whose remains were found in southern Washington state in early October. The cause of death remains undetermined after an autopsy was performed.
In July, 54-year-old Marie Hanson traveled with a neighbor to the Rainbow Gathering, a countercultural event emphasizing peace and love. She was last seen on July 7, then disappeared, leaving all her personal effects behind.
