Wage, construction defect laws hamper job growth says Nevada business group

CARSON CITY – Members of the Nevada chapter of a small business organization say the state’s minimum wage and construction defects laws are hampering job growth in the state.
The state’s prevailing wage law was also cited as a drag on economic development in the survey of its members by the Nevada chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business.

Proposed speed limit hike is topic of Meyers community meeting

A public meeting to discuss plans by Caltrans to increase speed limits within the Meyers area will be discussed at a public meeting, Tuesday, Feb. 21, 5:30 p.m. at the Lake Valley Fire Department.
Last fall Caltrans had announced it was reviewing speed limits between Meyers and South Lake Tahoe, with the idea of increasing the speed limit by 5 mph.
The meeting is being hosted by the Meyers Roundtable Committee and the Meyers Business Group. The public is encouraged to attend and should park on Keetak Street due to limited on-site parking.

Feminist Artist Joanna Frueh Workshop at Sierra Nevada College

Following her performance at UNR on March 1, scholar, teacher, and artist Joanna Frueh will conduct a workshop at Sierra Nevada College, 999 Tahoe Blvd., on Friday, March 2 from 1 -3:30pm in David Hall, 3rd floor. The workshop is limited to 25 people. There is a $10 workshop fee that includes a copy of the book The Glamour of Being Real. The book and workshops focus participants on being true to themselves through practices of self-transformation and conscious self-creation.
