The board voted unanimously Tuesday to approve the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association's offer to contribute $2.6 million from the area's transient occupancy tax to the $5 million needed to acquire the property.
Public workshops to discuss water transit at Lake Tahoe

The public is invited to workshops on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 6-7, to discuss a North Shore to South Shore transit connection by Aquabus, a waterbourne public transit ferry service that could be implemented, possibly, by summer 2015.

A strong cold front will move quickly across the region Tuesday, dropping temperatures up to 25 degrees compared to Monday. Winds will increase late Monday and Tuesday with gusts 40-55 mph in lower elevations, and ridge gusts in the Sierra exceeding 100 mph.

Submitted by Editor on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 10:02amOn Feb. 29 the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) acted illegally in not analyzing the boat pollution impacts for over one thousand illegal boat mooring buoys in the lake and that it must do so before it can approve other lake development.
The appeals court upheld a lower court ruling that found proposed amendments to the shoreline development plan were invalid. Under the new ruling, TRPA will retain discretion in how it will conduct a new study of the impacts of legalizing these buoys.
