Lake Tahoe Weather: Warm through Monday, snow Tuesday

Monday: Mostly sunny. Windy, with a west wind 25 to 30 mph increasing to between 45 and 50 mph. Winds could gust as high as 80 mph.
Monday Night: Snow showers likely after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Very windy, with a southwest wind around 50 mph, with gusts as high as 95 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday: Snow showers likely, mainly before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 21. Very windy, with a west wind between 30 and 40 mph, with gusts as high as 70 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy and very windy, with a low around 17.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 34.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 26.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 40.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy and breezy, with a low around 29.
Friday: Mostly sunny and breezy, with a high near 44.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy and breezy, with a low around 26.
High pressure will continue to build over the region, with sunny skies and warm temperatures in the Lake Tahoe Basin today and Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. A strong cold front will move quickly across the region Tuesday, dropping temperatures up to 25 degrees compared to Monday. Winds will increase late Monday and Tuesday with gusts 40-55 mph in lower elevations, and ridge gusts in the Sierra exceeding 100 mph. Scattered snow and rain showers will develop in areas mainly north of Highway 50 Tuesday morning, with an inch or two of accumulation in the Sierra and patchy slick road conditions and light accumulations possible on the valley floor.
