Public purchase of Tahoe City Golf Course seen as economic catalyst

The Tahoe City Public Utility District's plan to add a downtown golf course to the public domain has moved closer to fruition, with half the purchase price assured by the Placer County Board of Supervisors.
The board voted unanimously Tuesday to approve the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association's offer to contribute $2.6 million from the area's transient occupancy tax to the $5 million needed to acquire the property.
