Prescribed burn for North Tahoe Oct. 19-26


The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District will conduct a prescribed burn during the week of October 19 – October 26, depending on proper weather conditions and fuel moisture content. The projected areas are in the Second Creek drainage and Mill Creek sub-division.

Regional transportation issues will be focus of November workshops

The Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization will host two workshops November 1 and 3 to get public input on transportation priorities. The workshops are part of a four-year update of the Regional Transportation Plan (Mobility 2035) being carried out by TMPO and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. The agencies encourage public input to better serve the needs of the community, according to TRPA Transportation Planning Manager Nick Haven.

Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation Announces Freeride Ski Team

The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation has announced two new programs for the 2011 – 2012 winter season under the Freestyle umbrella. The Foundation will offer two Freeride program options, the One-Day Program and the Full-Time Competitive Program. These programs are open to intermediate to advanced level skiers aged ten to 18 who have a passion for slopestyle, skiercross and halfpipe training.

Two dead in Tahoe City fire

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Lake Tahoe fire officials are reporting two fatalities related to an early Tuesday morning structure fire at a Spruce Avenue home.
