Public invited to attend ceremony and ‘social’ honoring Vietnam Veterans Day

Event Date:
March 30, 2013 - 5:00pm

The Carson City Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will mark Vietnam Veterans Day in a short ceremony and social gathering on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

The short ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Memorial, located in Mills Park in Carson City, NV in the southeast corner of the park at 5 PM. (The park may be accessed from either Saliman Road across from Carson High School).

After the ceremony, a “Welcome Home” social will be held at the High Sierra Brewery Company, located at 302 North Carson Street at 5:30 PM. No Host Bar, free appetizers, and good cheer.

Last year President Barak Obama declared March 29, 2012 as “Vietnam Veterans Day” with the intent of making this day an annual event to pay tribute and honor to the soldiers who served in the Vietnam War.

Rick Arnold, who heads the Vietnam Veterans of America, Carson Area Chapter 388 said, “More than a half century later, those who served, and those who died, fighting the Vietnam War will receive an annual day of recognition honoring their sacrifice and service.” Arnold added, “I can’t tell you how much this means to the men and women who served in Vietnam, as well as their families. I encourage everyone to join us in Mills Park and afterwards at the Brewery to mark this day of recognition and honor.”
