Traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall coming to Douglas County
Submitted by paula on Fri, 04/27/2018 - 5:20pmThe Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., will be in Douglas County for the first time this spring, May 31-June 4, 2018.
The wall, which has been in circulating around the country since 1984 will land in Minden at Eastside Memorial Park, the sponsors of the event. They are located at 1600 Buckeye Road.
By bringing this monument to Minden, Eastside Memorial Park seeks to honor veterans and facilitate a healing experience for the friends and families of those who died or are missing in Vietnam.
Vietnam veterans to be honored at next El Dorado County Supervisor meeting

All veterans and families are invited to attend the El Dorado County BOS meeting on March 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. for the presentation of a proclamation from the US Department of Veteran Affairs. The proclamation is titled "Vietnam Veterans Day".
Public invited to Memorial Day Event as Carson Vietnam Veterans Unveil a Special Memorial

May 27, 2013 - 11:00am The Vietnam Veterans of America, Carson Area Chapter 388 invite you attend a Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 27th, 2013 beginning at 11 AM at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada.
The service will be an hour long. Immediately following the service, there will be an unveiling of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The shrine lists the names of 151 young men from the State of Nevada who gave their lives in Vietnam. Adjacent to that are the names of eight nurses who also gave their lives in Vietnam while they were there caring for our troops.

The short ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Memorial, located in Mills Park in Carson City, in the southeast corner of the park at 5 PM. (The park may be accessed from either Saliman Road or Seely Loop, across from Carson High School).

March 30, 2013 - 5:00pm The Carson City Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will mark Vietnam Veterans Day in a short ceremony and social gathering on Saturday, March 30, 2013.
The short ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Memorial, located in Mills Park in Carson City, NV in the southeast corner of the park at 5 PM. (The park may be accessed from either Saliman Road across from Carson High School).
After the ceremony, a “Welcome Home” social will be held at the High Sierra Brewery Company, located at 302 North Carson Street at 5:30 PM. No Host Bar, free appetizers, and good cheer.
Carson City Vietnam veterans make it personal

January 11, 2013 - 8:30am Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 388 are ringing in the New Year by knocking on doors throughout Carson City. They are making personal visits to those who helped bring the Traveling Wall Memorial to Mills Park for “Battle Born Days” and the Nevada Day celebrations.
