Event Date:
July 22, 2017 - 11:00am

A free Western Heritage Celebration returns to the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Saturday, July 22, beginning at 11:00 am.

The Carson Valley Quilt Guild returns for its second year and will give a demonstration on a variety of quilting methods including the “Crazy Quilt”. This demonstration is from 11:00 am until Noon.

The ladies of the Comstock Civil War Re-enactors will give a presentation on Victorian dressing, from undergarments to accessories, revealing the 7 to 11 layers of undergarments required for a lady's proper appearance in the late 1800s. This presentation is from 1:00 until 2:00 pm.

Singer-songwriter, Richard Blair has been a Truckee resident for 30 years and has written and recorded songs about the surrounding Sierras’ history in the late 1800s. Blair’s songs are old stories put to modern folk-roots and Americana melodies. He will be performing his music from 3:00 until 4:00 pm.

Cowboy Poet, Tony Argento’s presentation will pay tribute to “The Day of the Cowboy”. Argento is not only a poet, but a humorist, story teller, historian and writer as well. In 2013 he was the featured Cowboy Poet of the “National Day of the Cowboy” celebration at the Kennewick, Washington Cowboy Gathering. Tony Argento will take the stage from 4:30 until 5:30 pm.

Children’s activities throughout the day include “Gold Panning with Peggy”, which is also a favorite with adults.
