El Dorado Co. Sheriff's Department in South Lake Tahoe sponsors and supports activities of Sheriff's Team of Active Retirees. In a recent election held during the S.T.A.R. Station Meeting at South Lake Tahoe's Senior Center,
retiring 3 year term Station Leader Dick Young was replaced by Richard Thomson of Thomson's Insurance. Assisting Thomson are past Station Leaders Dick Young and George Schultz.
Other members, each holding specific job titles include Barbara Aragon, Jan and Ernie Claudio, Susan Kidwell, Mary Magana, Bill Sluka, Kay Taylor and Joan Young.
STAR volunteers also provide support during Search and Rescue operations.
Routinely members patrol neighborhoods, the library, small businesses, trail heads and beaches, ski resort parking lots, and remote cabin tracts. Additional members are needed to help enhance STAR membership and assist in these activities. Ride-alongs are welcome. Call the Tahoe Sheriff's Office 9-4 P.M. at 573-3000 or visit the office at 1360 Johnson Boulevard.
