Meyers family trapped when tree falls and splits roof during blizzard

During the height of Tuesday's blizzard, Lake Valley Fire (LVF) crews responded to home in Meyers where a tree had fallen and crashed through the roof, pinning one person against a window.
A Sokolov family of three, Paul, Jamie and Alyssa, lived in the home which suffered major damage as the mature tree went through the roof, through bedrooms and to the garage. Jamie was pinned, but LVF was able to quickly extricate her, the rest of the family and their pets.
Miraculously, all were unharmed.
With the high winds and heavy snow, this was just one of dozens of calls LVF responded to. Most calls were for fallen trees and branches, some downed power lines and a couple of cars crushed by trees which parked in driveways.
A Go Fund Me page has been started for the Sokolovs, and can be found here.
* We were told originally by a LVF representative that it was the father, Paul, who was trapped, it was actually the mother of the family, Jamie. We apologize for this and the story has been updated.
