With the retirement of Nancy Gibson, the U.S Forest Service started the search for her replacement. It was announced Tuesday Jeff Marsolais has been selected as the new forest supervisor for the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.
Marsolais has served as the deputy forest supervisor for the LTBMU for the last three years, managing several complex projects and initiatives involving nationally recognized ski areas and recreation facilities. In 2014, he served as special assistant to the regional forester, providing strategic guidance and direction on hiring efforts for the Pacific Southwest Region.
Employed with USFS since the mid-1990s, Marsolais has served on seven different National Forests in the Pacific Southwest and Intermountain regions before arriving on the LTBMU. He worked for the Bureau of Land Management prior to that.
“I am proud to be chosen to lead the highly skilled, motivated and dedicated team on the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit,” said Marsolais. “I understand the responsibility involved in managing such a complex and high-profile unit, and I look forward to meeting that challenge with the help of my team and our outstanding partners.”
