A car crash on Highway 88 near Hope Valley Resort claimed the life of a 29-year-old Markleville man on Sunday afternoon.
A report released by the California Highway Patrol on Tuesday said that a 32-year old woman from Shingle Springs, CA was driving a 2010 Ford sedan westbound when, for unknown reasons, she crossed the center line into the path of a 1995 Subaru. In an effort to avoid a collision, the driver of the Subaru, a 31-year-old woman from Markleville, made an abrupt turn to the left towards the westbound traffic lane on Hwy 88. The CHP said that as she swerved to the left, the passenger side of her car was struck by the front end of the Ford.
The passenger of the Subaru suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The two drivers had minor injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time.
