More snow in the forecast: Winter Weather Warning issued for Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Ever feel like its Groundhog Day and you keep reliving a forecast snow storm over and over again? It is beginning to feel like that here in Lake Tahoe as another series of winter storms will bring mountain snow, gusty winds and hazardous mountain travel.
A Pacific storm system begins to move into the northern Sierra Sunday and to Lake Tahoe Monday, then continuing through Thursday.
It all begins with the wind and a Lake Wind Advisory is in effect for Lake Tahoe until 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 24. Winds: Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Stronger winds expected Monday morning, then redeveloping Monday afternoon through Tuesday. Expect waves 1-3 feet tonight then increasing to 3 to 5 feet Monday. Highest waves from mid-lake to northern and eastern shores. Very dangerous boating conditions Monday. Winds are forecast to be gusting as high as 60 mph with gusts over 140 mph for the Sierra ridges
The National Weather Service in Reno just upgraded this morning's Winter Weather Advisory to a Warning, calling for heavy snow, with accumulation over the next three days of 2-4 feet, with 4 to 8 feet above 7000 feet expected. Periods of white-out conditions are likely. They said the system is a complex one there is potential for significant variations in snow levels that could cause snow totals to vary from what they are currently forecasting.
The forecast from the NWS in Reno:
Sunday afternoon - A 20 percent chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 39. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Tonight - A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Monday - Snow likely, mainly after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Windy, with a southwest wind 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Monday Night - Snow. Low around 31. Windy, with a south wind around 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
Tuesday - Snow. High near 41. Windy, with a south wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
Tuesday Night - Rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
Wednesday - Rain and snow likely before 5pm, then a chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 44. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Wednesday Night - A chance of rain before 11pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Breezy.
Thursday - A chance of rain and snow before 11am, then a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41.
Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 18.
Friday - A chance of rain and snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 42.
Friday Night - Rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25.
Saturday - Rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41.
