Three arrested while attempting burglary of Tahoe Keys Liquor

Three suspects were arrested early Wednesday morning as they were attempting to burglarize the Tahoe Keys Liquor store in South Lake Tahoe.

Lorenzo Jackson, a 20-year old from Antioch, CA, Shayan Taghi, a 20-year old from San Ramon, CA and Ryan Mello, a 21-year old from San Lorenzo, CA were all arrested on charges stemming from the burglary.

At 1 a.m., the South Lake Tahoe Police department received an activated alarm call from the store, located at 2297 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The first officer on the scene confronted two suspects inside the store. As backup arrived, officers arrested Jackon and Mello in front of the store without incident.

At about the same time, the third suspect, Taghi, was stopped by El Dorado County Sherriff’s Deputies as he attempted to leave the area in a vehicle. Inside the car was evidence tying all three suspects to the burglary.

All three were arrested and booked into El Dorado County Jail for burglary and conspiracy. Taghi was also charged with vehicle theft as the car they were in was reported stolen.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspects gained entry into the store by smashing the glass out of the front door.

Police are also investigating a second burglary that occurred at American Gas (1140 Emerald Bay Road) sometime before the attempt at Tahoe Keys Liquor. A general description provided to police of the American Gas suspects is similar to the suspects arrested in the Tahoe Keys Liquor burglary. Both cases are still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the South Lake Tahoe Police Department reference case #’s 1503-0208 (Tahoe Keys Liquor) and 1503-0209 (American Gas).
