School cafeteria food, once the subject of moans, groans and jokes, is something to be proud of in South Lake Tahoe. The Niche 2015 rankings have been released, and out of 3,868 school districts participating, Lake Tahoe Unified School District school placed third in the Sacramento region and 27th in the whole state.
The school districts were rated based on district spending statistics and more than 580,000 opinions on food from 215,000 students and parents. A high ranking indicates the district offers a variety of healthy, quality food options, accommodates various dietary preferences like vegan and gluten-free, and the students rate the quality of food favorably.
South Tahoe High came in eighth for Sacramento area high schools.
