CHP busts marijuana grow house in South Lake Tahoe

A California Highway Patrol Sergeant on routine rounds through the Tahoe Keys came across a large and sophisticated indoor marijuana grow.

CHP Sgt. Joe Sherry was driving southbound on Emerald Drive, just south of Kokanee Way when he came across a pickup truck partially blocking the roadway at 10:15 p.m. on March 17. Sherry observed several people unloading marijuana plants from the truck into a nearby residence. When the suspects saw Sherry they ran into the residence. Sherry pursued and detained one subject at the front door of the residence when the suspect admitted to unloading marijuana from the vehicle into the home and confirmed there was an indoor marijuana grow operation inside.

Two other people inside the home came out when Sherry was joined by three other officers.

South Lake El Dorado Narcotic Enforcement Team (SLEDNET) was contacted and arrived with a search warrant. An elaborate filtration and hydroponic system was found with a large number of live marijuana plants. Additionally, numerous pounds of processed, and packaged for sale, marijuana was seized. SLEDNET agents placed a street value of approximately $76,500.00 on the marijuana.

The names of the suspects have not been released by CHP.
