Unsettled weather continues for the Lake Tahoe Basin

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The forecast is beginning to sound like a broken record - Rain, snow, sunshine, repeat. Mother Nature keeps sending us bits of everything in the Lake Tahoe forecasts. Never fear....at this point it looks like a week of sunshine coming soon!
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory, which is in effect from noon to 9:00 p.m. Monday. The advisory is for Tahoe, Donner, Fallen Leaf, Prosser, and Boca lakes. Winds will be from the southwest 15 to 20 mph, gusts to 40 mph. Waves on the lakes will be 1 to 3 feet.
Cool and unsettled is forecast through the end of the week. Showers should start to increase for areas north of I-80 by Monday afternoon with rather gusty winds for the Tahoe Basin, eastern Sierra and western NV. Peak gusts will hit 30-40
Snow levels will be above 8000 feet during the day Monday and expected to drop to 5000-6000 feet as the cold front moves through the region Monday night and early Tuesday morning, but that will be near the end of the precipitation event. Light snow accumulations are possible, perhaps 2-4 inches in the higher elevations of the Sierra, while just a dusting is possible below 7000 feet.

Tonight - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. South wind around 5 mph.
Monday - A 30 percent chance of rain after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
Monday Night - Rain, mainly after 11pm. Low around 30. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
Tuesday - A chance of rain before 8am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 8am and 11am, then a chance of snow showers after 11am. Some thunder is also possible. Partly sunny, with a high near 41. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 22. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the evening.
Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 46.
Wednesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.
Thursday - A chance of rain and snow showers after 11am. Some thunder is also possible. Partly sunny, with a high near 44.
Thursday Night - A chance of rain and snow showers before 11pm, then a chance of snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.
Friday - A chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 44.
Friday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 23.
Saturday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 51.
Saturday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.
Sunday - Partly sunny, with a high near 49.
