Children from the Meyers and South Lake Tahoe communities took part in the Lake Valley Fire Protection District's (LVFPD) second annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday at Tahoe Paradise Park.
10,000 plastic eggs were hidden in the park, each filled with candy, Lake Valley tattoos and some special golden eggs with prizes.
Jamie Sessions, and her husband LVFPD Fleet Manager Andrew Session, took two of their chickens to the event for the kids and their families to enjoy.
"They were a hit!" said Jamie. "It was pretty darn awesome," she said of the event. She was on the organizing committee with Katie Long of Thran's Flowers, LVFPD Board Member Leona Allen and Kileigh Labrado of LVF.
The chickens entertained everyone as they were waiting for a Chihuahua race between Fire Chief Tim Alameda's dog and a young egg hunter's dog.
The Red Cross was on hand at the event to hand out cups of hot chocolate donated by the South Lake Tahoe Smart & Final store.
