Possible explosive device thrown through window of South Lake Tahoe marijuana collective

A device was thrown through the window of Patient to Patient, a marijuana collective in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. on Thursday night, prompting a bomb squad unit from Douglas County to be called to the scene. No injuries were reported. The scene was rendered safe at 12:30 Friday morning.
The device, thought to be explosive, was reported to South Lake Tahoe dispatch at 10:15 p.m. Patient to Patient is located at 2314 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
The device may be similar to the one found in the 900 block of Tallac on April 10, said South Lake Tahoe Police Sgt. Brad Williams.

"There is a distinct smell to it," said Williams. The device also emitted a lot of smoke.
There was some property damage to the building, the window, but it is not known at this time if there was an actual explosion or whether the device was set to explode and didn't, Williams added.
The initial call came in to dispatch that dynamite was thrown threw the window. There were people inside the building at the time who reported a loud boom sound.
Multiple police and fire units were on the scene, including the South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team, until the building was deemed safe.
The Tahoe Douglas Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded and a robot was used to retrieve the device from inside the building. It was then taken outside where it was reviewed by a member of the Ordinance team who wore a explosive-proof fitted suit. The material in the device was salvaged and will be reviewed by South Lake Tahoe Police, Sgt. Williams said.
"Right now it is undetermined if it was an explosive meant to explode or a hoax," he said.
Today, Friday, April 20, is designated 420 Day among those in the cannabis culture. It is not known if the incident is related, Williams added.
