We would like to express our sincerest appreciation and deepest thanks to the Barton Health team for their efforts to address the coronavirus COVID-19 crisis. This is an unprecedented time to work in health care, and the staff, physicians, and administration have risen to this challenge while showing perseverance, nimbleness, and strategic creativity. The dedication to their job and the brave face they don each day while arriving at work is humbling. As Board members and community members we are deeply moved by this courage.
Approximately 1,000 employees, medical specialists, nurses, physicians, and administrators are helping patients on the frontline or working diligently behind the scenes. In just over a month, the Barton Health team has set up the Barton COVID-19 Health Line, which triages symptoms and provides referrals to the appropriate level of in-person care. Across the organization medical appointments were converted to Virtual Visits, helping reduce exposure to both patient and health care workers. Clinical staff and department leaders have mapped out a surge plan to more than double bed capacity, to best serve the community should an influx of patients arrive. Specialty teams like Facilities, Engineering, Supply Chain and Environmental Services have devoted their expertise to converting rooms to negative pressure, sourcing supplies and cleaning care areas.
We are fortunate to have strong leadership and committed teams in place at Barton right now. At a time when our community needs them the most, we value and appreciate the exceptional work these heroes are doing to help those in crisis and in need. It takes determination, expertise, kindness, and selfless acts to ensure all patients feel safe and confident with their care.
Again, we thank them.
With gratitude,
The Board of Directors of Barton Health
