Nevadans can lock in lower prepaid tuition rates until 4/30

Open enrollment for the Nevada Prepaid Tuition program will end on Monday, April 30, 2018 and the Nevada State Treasurer's Office wants to remind parents to enroll in the program before the state's college rates are increased.
This is a chance for parents to lock in current tuition rates.
The program allows parents to pre-pay their child's future tuition by purchasing a contract for community college or university level credit hours. Earlier this year, the Nevada State Treasurer's Office held a Nevada Prepaid Tuition Contest in which two students, one in Northern Nevada and one in Southern Nevada would win their choice of a 1-year University Plan account or a 2-year Community College Plan account.
The Northern Nevada winner of the contest, announced in March, has decided to pay it forward to another family. Chris and Carolyn Dolan have made the decision to give their award of free college tuition to another Reno family. Their kind gesture granted new participants in the 2018 enrollment period another opportunity to be selected as this year's Northern winner. Thanks to the generosity of the Dolan family, Amera MacDonald's contract was randomly chosen, and her 9th grade son, Joshua was awarded a two-year community college plan.
Congratulations to both families.
Credits purchased through the Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program can be used at any FAFSA-eligible school. The Nevada Prepaid Tuition program has been serving Nevadans for 20 years, allowing families to prepare their young ones for higher education. Open enrollment continues until April 30, 2018 for residents who wish to purchase a contract for a loved one (newborn through 9th graders). Plans start as low as $38 per month (for newborns) for a community college plan.
