On August 31, 2015, when the students and teachers are back at work in South Lake Tahoe, Howard Coleman will be treating himself to an extra cup of coffee and time to read the newspaper.
After 32 years of teaching, Coleman will be retiring in June as a teacher for the Lake Tahoe Unified School District. But by no means will he be resting and relaxing. He will be spending more time on his second career as a videographer as well as concentrating on his music. You might see him playing in some small clubs in the Carson Valley. Howard and his wife, Judi, are selling their South Lake Tahoe home and moving to Gardnerville, NV.
"I will miss the connection with the kids the most," Coleman said. "They keep me young."
When asked what he wanted to be remembered for, Coleman said "for making a difference in the kids' lives, being a role model and a mentor."
Besides music and videos, Coleman will spend time traveling to the Greek Islands and Hawaii and working on his bucket list: Get healthier, Spend more time with my wife, and play more.
