USFS and Starbucks teams clean Spooner Summit sled hill

We've all seen the discarded sleds and other trash spread over popular roadside sledding areas around Lake Tahoe, and a recent cleanup got rid of the trash at Spooner Summit.
The Tahoe Fund organized the clean up day with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and Starbucks of Incline Village.
Found during their morning cleanup efforts were lots of broken sled pieces, beer bottles, soda cans, gloves, wrappers and plastic utensils.
Because of the large number of discarded sleds a year ago, the Tahoe Fund installed a seasonal "sled corral" where people could dump the sleds instead of leaving them on the hillside. This has helped in cleanup of large pieces of trash but people still left behind enough for the volunteers to fill up 12 bags in a few hours.
"While we’d prefer people take their sleds and trash home, many did take advantage of the corral and left their sleds in it and not scattered around the Hill," said Amy Berry, CEO of the Tahoe Fund.
