SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The University of California Master Food Preserver Program is returning to the South Shore with their Vegetables: Preserve & Serve class on Tuesday, June 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Library.
UC Master Food Preservers will explain each step of canning, dehydrating and freezing as methods of preserving vegetables to use throughout the year. This follows up their June 3 class on preserving fruit.
Learn how and why you need to pressure can vegetables and soups, how to make versatile vegetable powders, and how to create your own gourmet pickles.
There will be a lot of topics presented; get comfortable! They will incorporate a few simple hands-on activities to keep participants focused and provide a light meal mid-way through the class. All will leave with lots of recipes and ideas to try at home.
The class is $15 and the light lunch is included. Pre-registration is required at http://ucanr.edu/vegetable-june18. Contact Robin Cleveland at rkcleveland@ucanr.edu or 530-621-5528 for more information.
