Stellar week ahead in South Lake Tahoe

Heat will build through the weekend with afternoon highs returning to the 90s across the lower valleys with 80s in the Sierra. Winds will be light with high pressure over the region. North to northwest winds today will keep smoke from the Lions Fire along the Sierra Crest near and south of Mammoth Mountain according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Winds may be gusty during the Independence Day holiday. This may lead to
hazardous boating and fire weather conditions, exactly their impact will be known as the 4th gets closer.

South of Lake Tahoe there will be a chance of a few thunderstorms are possible late Sunday afternoon as instability builds along the Sierra Crest for Alpine and Mono Counties.
