County offering paid tuition for professional truck driving school

Looking for a career as a professional truck driver, but don't have money for school? El Dorado County Connections - One Stop has announced that funds are now available through the Federal Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) to pay for truck driving school tuition. Any unemployed resident of El Dorado County over the age of 23 with a clean driving record is eligible. There is no income restriction.

According to Jenny Wilson, Program Supervisor for Connections - One Stop, truck drivers are in high demand and make good salaries. "It takes about one month to complete the training, and truck driving schools are located nearby in Sacramento," said Wilson. "Once training is completed, individuals are able to drive 18-wheel, long-haul and short-haul trucks."

Interested individuals may come to the Connections - One Stop office to pick up a WIOA Interest Form. The office is located at 3368 Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe.
