Suspect wanted during South Lake Tahoe standoff arrested

The felon who was the focus of a six-hour standoff on July 2 in the South Lake Tahoe Motel 6 parking lot has been arrested.

Sean Wanamaker, 31, was been arrested by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, brandishing a weapon, and violation of parole. Wanamaker's parole terms included not stepping foot into the South Lake Tahoe city limits.

At 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, SLTPD received a report from a citizen that Wanamaker was at Stateline Beach in South Lake Tahoe. Officers arrived and spotted him, but waited until he went to the restrooms so they could apprehend away from a crowd. According to SLTPD Sgt. Travis Cabral, Wanamaker was arrested without incident.

Found today in the garbage at Motel 6 was a 1911 replice BB Gun, much like the one brandished during Wanamaker's altercation with a man in the motel's parking lot which set off the whole scene of events Saturday. It has not yet been confirmed if the gun belongs to the suspect.

The vehicle and camper trailer involved in the standoff have been towed from the motel and detectives will be processing them.

Wanamaker is a current resident at the El Dorado County jail in South Lake Tahoe where he remains without bail.
