INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) responded to reports of a road rage incident between two motorists on the Mt. Rose Highway (SR431) Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m.
It had been reported that the driver of a gold Ford pickup truck fired a handgun at another vehicle, shattering its window. The car was later found on the highway west of Callahan Road.
After an investigation, the truck's driver, 23-year-old Incline Village resident Yonatan Zuniga-Sanchez, was arrested and charged with assault and destruction of property. Gross misdemeanor charges are pending. He was booked into the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office jail where he remains Wednesday night. His bail has been set at a $10,000 bond.
A loaded black BB gun without an orange tip was located in the pickup truck that resembled a 9mm Beretta handgun.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is reminding motorists that these road rage incidents can often have serious or sometimes deadly results. If you observe a motorist driving aggressively, contact the Nevada Highway Patrol by dialing *NHP from your mobile device. Do not attempt to handle the situation by yourself. If you find yourself being followed by an angry motorist, drive to a safe location.
