Search continues for swimmer missing in Lake Tahoe

8:00 p.m. 8/5/18 UPDATE: SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The body of a 21-year-old California man was located in Lake Tahoe Sunday afternoon, more than 24 hours after he jumped off a boat near Edgewood Tahoe.

El Dorado County Sheriff's Office cadaver dogs alerted others to the body of the man about one-quarter mile off shore between Tahoe Meadows and Lakeside Marina just before 5:00 p.m. Sunday, according to South Lake Tahoe Police Officer Traci Trapani.

10:25 a.m. 8/5/18 UPDATE: The search continues for the missing swimmer near south shore of Lake Tahoe. The Marine units of Douglas County Sheriff's Office, South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County Sheriff's, Washoe County and the US Coast Guard are all in the area where the swimmer was last seen. A California Highway Patrol helicopter is conducting an aerial search again today.

There has been a day-long search for a swimmer missing in Lake Tahoe off the shore near the Edgewood Tahoe pier.

Multiple agencies responded to the Saturday, August 4 call for help at noon, including the U.S. Coast Guard, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Tahoe Douglas Fire, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue.

Boats are currently in the area this evening and no other details are available at this time. The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed they responded to a call and still have resources at the scene. According to their office, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office is the lead agency for the missing person.

There has been a Red Flag Warning in Lake Tahoe since Friday, with winds over 35 mph forecast Saturday evening.
