Pedestrian struck and killed by pickup truck and DCSO patrol cars on Highway 395

A pedestrian walking on Highway 395 near Spring Valley Drive was killed after being struck by multiple vehicles Sunday night.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, the victim was standing in the southbound lane at 10:45 p.m. when he was hit by a pickup truck heading south. After being struck, the male was thrown into the northbound travel lane of US 395. As the pickup truck driver pulled over, two Douglas County Sheriff's patrol cars were heading north and did not see the man. Both cars struck the man.
There is no roadway lighting in the area and the speed limit is 55 mph. All drivers are cooperating with the investigation.
The accident is still under investigation and no names are being release at this time until next of the kin for the deceased has been notified and the investigation is completed.
