Firearm used in robbery of man at South Lake Tahoe motel; Two arrested

Two men have been arrested after a man was robbed at gunpoint at the Blackjack Motel on Wednesday, August 25, according to Detective Brian Hannink of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

SLTPD responded to the armed robbery where the victim reported two white male adults had used a firearm while they robbed him of a cell phone and other property. The two suspects then fled in a vehicle.

Hannink said responding officers were able to identify the suspects, who were known acquaintances of the victim. Officers traced the victim’s cell phone to a residence in South Lake Tahoe at the "Y" in the area of 13th Street and Panther Way.

SLTPD went to the area and observed a vehicle leaving the residence occupied by two people. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested Logan Schwartz, 28, who was in the vehicle, on suspicion of armed robbery.

The SWAT team arrived and officers served a search warrant at the residence where they arrested 20-year-old Christopher Mendonca.

Both Schwartz and Mendonca were booked into custody at the El Dorado County Jail, charged with robbery and burglary, both felonies. Mendonca also faces an additional charge of possessing a controled substance in jail.

Schwartz's bail has been set at $257,500, while Mendonca's is at $300,000.
