Help Clean Lake Tahoe Beaches
Submitted by Editor on Fri, 08/31/2012 - 12:29pm
Event Date:
September 15, 2012 - 9:00am
Join thousands of volunteers nationwide to help keep our waterways clean and blue on September 15 for National Beach Cleanup Day. The League to Save Lake Tahoe will be coordinating a cleanup at Kings Beach State Recreation Area from 9 a.m. to noon. The League welcomes volunteers of all ages and abilities. Other Tahoe-area organizations will also be coordinating cleanups along the lake's shoreline and its tributaries
Last year, 226 volunteers picked up more than 2,584 pounds of trash from 35 miles of shoreline. Volunteer support is urgently needed to help reduce litter on Tahoe beaches.
All volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle and snack. Trash bags, recycling bags, and gloves are provided, but volunteers who already have work gloves are encouraged to bring them. For more information or to sign-up, contact Flavia Sordelet with the League to Save Lake Tahoe at (530) 541-5388 or events@keeptahoeblue.org.
If you are interested in participating in the other Beach Cleanup Day site locations around Lake Tahoe, please contact the Incline Village General Improvement District at 775-832-1284 for East Shore beaches and Tahoe Clean at 530-544-4210 for South Shore beaches.
