SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The body of a Canadian man who was in Lake Tahoe to hike the Tahoe Rim Trail has been found by search and rescue teams.
Gordon "Gord" Yorke, 56, missed a scheduled food drop for the second day in a row and Search and Rescue (SAR) teams were called out to locate him.
There was a joint effort between El Dorado and Douglas County Sheriff SAR volunteers. Not knowing where Yorke might be along the 165-mile trail, they had teams searching in both directions, with one team starting at Spooner Summit working north to Marlette Lake, a bike team covered Spooner to Andria Drive and other teams went south.
On Monday, September 4, volunteers found Yorke under Freel Peak off the Tahoe Rim Trail according to El Dorado County Sheriff Deputy Greg Almos who is in charge of the county's SAR team.
At this time there is no indication that his death is suspicious but El Dorado County coroner is investigation.
