Man dies after 100 foot fall at Cascade Falls

Update 5:00 p.m. 9/7/16: The man killed in Monday's hiking incident near Cascade Falls has been identified as Airman 1st Class Tyler Oimoeon of Beale Air Force Base. He from Mt.Horeb, Wisconsin.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Airman Oimoen's family, coworkers and friends," Lt. Col. Matthew Mountcastle said. "During this difficult time, we are caring for his family and coworkers with the support of the Beale community."

A 21-year-old man died at Cascade Falls on Monday afternoon after taking a fall off granite rocks in the area.
The unidentified man fell 40 feet off a cliff, then tumbled another 60 feet in the rocky terrain according to the Lake Valley Fire Department.
LVFD responded to the 4:03 p.m. call along with El Dorado County Search and Rescue. They hiked back to the spot where the victim was but were unable to save his life.
A helicopter from the California Highway Patrol was able to remove the body.
At this time no other details are available. The name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
The El Dorado County Coroner's Office is conducting an autopsy to determine exact cause of death and the cause is still under investigation.
