One person dies after mid-air collision near Minden-Tahoe Airport

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - East Fork Fire Protection and Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) responded Monday morning to the area south of Johnson Lane near Heybourne Road for a report of an airplane crash.

DCSO is reporting that the two aircraft collided in the air around 9:47 a.m. on September 16. One of those aircraft were able to make a landing at the airport, while the other crashed into a field off Highway 395 near Johnson Lane.

One fatality is confirmed at this time. The airport is currently closed. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.

This is the second deadly crash of a plane near the airport in a month. On August 20, one man was injured and another killed after an experimental plane crashed.
