The arrest of a 21-year-old transient in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday night follows a weekend where four cars were stolen and one was reported as missing.
As reported in South Tahoe Now, the cars were stolen from outside Domino's, Brother's Place, a Ruth Avenue business and a residence on Wiliam Avenue between Friday and Saturday, September 11 and 12. In each case, the ignition keys had been left in the vehicle.
As of Wednesday morning, three of the stolen vehicles had been recovered with no identified suspect(s).
On September 16, a South Lake Tahoe patrol officer saw a white, 1991 Honda being driven in the 2600 block of Lake Tahoe Blvd. He noticed it matched the description of the one remaining stolen car. He pulled over the car in front of the Sunburst Motel and contacted the driver, 21-year-old Tarra Sheffield.

During the search of the stolen car the officer located suspected methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia.
He also found evidence in the vehicle which appears to be associated with at least one of the other stolen vehicles stolen. Sheffield was booked into the El Dorado County Jail for auto theft, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $35,000. As of Wednesday afternoon she was still in jail.
