El Dorado County authorities investigate fatal shooting in Placerville

El Dorado County authorities are investigating a fatal shooting Friday night in Placerville. A 37-year-old man was found dead in the 3100 block of Lo Hi Way after a report to dispatch that a gunshot was heard and that a man armed with a handgun had been shot with a shotgun.
No arrests have been made and the dead man's identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

Fatal Shooting in Placerville
Just before midnight on Friday (09/22/2012) the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a gunshot in the 3100 block of Lo Hi Way in Placerville. Shortly thereafter the Dispatch Center received a report that a man armed with a handgun had entered a residence and had been shot with a shotgun and then attempted to leave the residence and was laying on the ground just outside the door of the residence.
Deputies arrived at the residence just after midnight to find the body of a 37 year old man, laying face down, just outside of the door of the residence. He was pronounced deceased at the location.
Homicide Detectives and Coroner Detectives are currently investigating the incident. There have been no arrests as of this time. The deceased man's identification is being withheld pending the notification of family members.
